Roleplay chat for character cards

LoreChat reads SillyTavern and Chub cards, keeps the lore, and puts a quiet director behind the scenes so the character drives the plot. Every few turns, a scene gets illustrated.

How LoreChat works
Cards, not forms
PNG or JSON, V1 through V3. Description, personality, scenario, example dialogue, alternate greetings and the lorebook all come through. Import fails loudly, with the raw data, never silently.
A director in the wings
Each chat gets a plan: beats that rise in tension, a twist held back until its moment, and a running summary so the character remembers what happened three hundred messages ago.
Scenes, illustrated
Every few turns the current moment is drawn in a consistent style, with the character’s look anchored to the card. Or ask for a picture whenever a line deserves one.
Questions people ask
Straight answers about what LoreChat is, what it reads, and what it costs.
- What is LoreChat?
- LoreChat is a web app for roleplay chat with AI characters. You import a character card (the PNG or JSON format used by SillyTavern and Chub), and chat with that character in your browser. A story director keeps the plot moving and scenes get illustrated as you go.
- Which character card formats does LoreChat support?
- Character Card V1, V2 and V3. PNG cards with the embedded chara or ccv3 chunk, and plain JSON exports. Description, personality, scenario, example dialogue, alternate greetings and the lorebook (character book) are all imported.
- Do I need to install anything or bring an API key?
- No. LoreChat runs in the browser and the models are provided by the service. You create a free account, import a card or pick a starter character, and start chatting.
- What does the story director do?
- When a chat starts, LoreChat drafts a plan from the card: a premise, four to eight story beats with rising tension, and a twist that stays hidden until its beat. Every few replies it updates a running summary so the character remembers what happened, and it steers the reply toward the current beat. You can turn it off per chat.
- How do the illustrations work?
- Every few replies, or whenever you press "Picture this scene", LoreChat writes a short image prompt from the current moment using a consistent style bible and the character's appearance, and renders it with an image model. Illustrations are attached to the message in the chat.
- Is LoreChat free?
- Yes, during the beta. Each account has a daily budget of credits: a reply costs 1 credit and an illustration costs 5. The budget resets every day at midnight UTC.
- Who can use LoreChat?
- Adults only. You confirm that you are 18 or older when you create an account. Characters are fictional, and content that is illegal or involves minors is not allowed.
- Is my data private?
- Your cards and chats are visible only to you and to the models that generate replies. Nothing is shared publicly. You can export everything or delete your account from Settings.
